“This is where I’m supposed to say that I am shadow, that I am the darkness. But that would imply that in the presence of light I am diminished. Know that I am not. I’m supposed to say that like a shadow, I am always with you and that you will not know when I strike. When I strike, you will know it. You may think that coming from the Shadowfell I am a cold blooded killer, without feeling. Know that my blood is hot, and that I am filled with joy at the task ahead. I am Shadar-kai, and you will help relieve the boredom of existence… at least for a few moments.”

• Always looking to make things as exciting as possible or try things using unusual approaches.
• Gold and green leather armor, with a blue robe with gold trim.
• Tattoos have a runic thorn motif.

Tips During Combat

• Using a spiked chain, Briar has a reach of 2. A good strategy is to attack an enemy from behind an ally and attack through the ally’s space. With the “Inescapable Blade” power that reach increases to 4.
• The key to Briar is to move around a lot. With his multiple teleportation related powers (both at-will and encounter) he can move all over the place quickly.
• Additionally, with the teleportation powers, it is nearly impossible for Briar to be grabbed beyond his turn (you can just teleport out of it).
• Shroud every chance you get, remembering that when hidden, enemies aren’t aware of your shrouds, that your daily power allows for you to shroud a target with two shrouds at a time, and that the “Inescapable Shadow” power only works against shrouded targets.
• After attacking an adjacent target, move away from it as fast as possible. He has pretty low hit points, and just a few hits can leave him unconscious.
• Alternatively, to avoid being hit or taking lots of damage use Briar’s powers that make him insubstantial, concealed, or invisible.
